*Week 1- In the Beginning

Good Morning! I hope everyone enjoyed their summer break and that you came back refreshed and ready for this new school year! I’m super excited and a little nervous to be quite honest- to be teaching this class. I’m stepping out of my comfort zone and trusting that the Lord will guide me and give me knowledge as I grow and learn alongside you.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, fools despise wisdom and instruction

                                                                                                                                   Proverbs 1:7

Here we go! Lets get right into our first week of World History class. We will be learning about why studying history is so important. We will also learn that history tells of God’s dealings with man.  For the first 1600 years- God allowed the people to do according to what they thought was right.  God watched as these people He had created spiraled out of control in violence and other horrible deeds.  His judgement… The Flood!

Noah and his family were the only survivors and they were commanded to repopulate the earth.  But we learned it did not take long for them to disobey and rebel again.  A man (Nimrod), which literally means “rebellion” rose up and led the people in an act of rebellion against God, by building the Tower of Babel.  God’s judgement…. He confused the language which ultimately halted all building and the people scattered.

In all of this, we see God’s sovereignty.  We will continue to see His hand, and how it all leads up to Jesus!

*Journal Entry:

I would like you to add to your journal the following:

Creation

Adam and Eve

Noah and the Flood

Tower of Babel

For each page you need to draw a picture that represents these events and write down important points for each. You can use your bible to add notes for each.  They are just bullet points for each event ( for ex. Creation- 4000- 6000 B.C., God created it in 6 days, rested on 7th, write out what happened on each day, created man in His image, pick out important points there- focal points ect.)

*Vocabulary

Please refer to the vocabulary link.  Please write each word in Week 1 of journal

  1. Hello Mrs.Eunice, here is my opinion on whether the earth was created in 6 days or millions of years, this is where you wanted me to comment, right? – Thank you!

Was the earth created in 6 days or in millions/billions of years?
I believe that when God said one day he meant one day and it would be silly, even contradicting the bible to say otherwise. I mean who would think that our almighty, infinite, and omnipotent God couldn’t create the world in six days? And like Ken Ham states “…Let God tell us what he did, not us tell God what he did.” every time the word day is used besides in Genesis chapter one, day means day. So why would it not mean a literal day in the beginning of Genesis? Genesis one is not just supporting itself; but other books of the bible support it as well, for instance Exodus 20:11 “For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them…” and one more thing before I close when you read genesis one you can see that everyday is qualified by using number, evening, morning and night. So that shows us that the earth was created in six literal days.

  2. I believe Creation happened in six days for a few reasons. Number one, because their is no current information based on science that confirms a longer or shorter period than six days. Two, because other theories contridict the Bible.

  3. I know that God created everything in six days because when the word Day is used in Genesis it means one literal day. When people try to say that it was thousands of years because of a verse in the New Testament, it doesn’t apply to Genesis. You can’t compare a verse from the New Testament to a verse in Genesis. When God says in Genesis that He created everything in six days, that’s what it means. Six literal days. People try to fit in their billions of years theory into Genesis with the gap theory, but it isn’t true.

  4. I believe God created everything in six days because the Bible says “six days.” Some people are trying to add millions of years to the Bible, which is completely wrong, because then we’re saying man’s theories can be a judge on God’s Word. We need to let God tell us what He did, not us tell God what He did. Some people might say, “How can you have a day and night without a sun?” Well you don’t need a sun, you just need light. The Bible says that there was light since Day One of creation. In Exodus 20:11, it says “For in six days the Lord made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything in them; but on the seventh day He rested. That is why the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy.” It states very clearly that God created everything in six days. So more than once the Bible stated that God created everything in six literal days. There are a lot more valid points that Ken Ham made but I’m not gonna name them all because if I do I’ll have to type out everything he said in the video and that’s way too much. So I just typed out my favorite points he made.

  5. There is man’s word and God’s word. Do we believe in a finite mind or an omniscient God? Although the Bible can sometimes not be interpreted literally when given the context and definition of day throughout the Bible there is only one meaning. Believing in theories of an old earth and big bang contradicts the truth that God made man in His own image, God is the designer of all living things, and the creator of our universe. We should look into the word to find the truth because God is all knowing. When reading Genesis it’s clear that God created in six literal days.

  6. I believe that God created the world in six literal days because God clearly stated that each day he created represented a day of the week .He also said that on the 7th day he rested.
